Required Training
All personnel must complete safety training via CHIMERA before entering UMIC.
Supervision Requirement
To ensure the highest standards of participant safety, independent scanning is not permitted. All sessions must be conducted under the direct, on-site supervision of a staff MRI Technologist.
Step 1: Access CHIMERA

UNLV Students/Staff: Log in with your ACE credentials. Please follow the instructions in the Acessing CHIMERA Guide.

External Users: Register for a CHIMERA account and complete the MRI Safety Online Training Module.
Step 2: Access Levels
Access is granted in three tiers based on your training and experience:
Non-MR Personnel
- Complete online module
- Pass quiz (≥ 90% or 9/10)
Level 1
- Complete online module
- Pass quiz (≥ 90% or 27/30)
Level 2
- Successfully pass the Level 1 exam
- Complete 10+ hours of supervised training, hands-on clinical training.
- Receive final safety sign-off from a Level 3 MRI Technologist
Annual Recertification
All MR safety certifications for non-MR personnel, Level 1 and Level 2 personnel are valid for a period of one (1) calendar year from the date of the most recent accessment and must be renewed annually.
